Planting for wildlife

when I first approached this garden it was just a wide expanse of shrubs and cleared borders that needed shaping and bringing to its full potential. From a design point of view Joanne was adamant she didn’t want a lawn, and water was not a priority. So when it came to design it was all about structure and plants. Structure to give the garden a purpose, plants to soften the edges and create interest as well as attract the wildlife that would come with it. We now have a seating area in the corner under a large tree, ( really good on hot days ) a seating area in the left corner overlooking the small Photinia hedge as well as a already present re-vamped hard area, vegetable plot and a rockery area. this would be more than enough to keep many a gardener happy all year long.
